Fire Pit
Quick Start
- Open the tank valve fully (counter-clockwise)
- Push the control knob in and turn to "LOW" or "PILOT," then press the igniter — listen for click, watch for flame
- Hold the knob in for 30–60 seconds after the flame catches. This is the most-missed step
- Release. Adjust flame height with the knob. To shut off: turn knob to "OFF," then close the tank valve
Pro Tips
- The flame needs to heat the thermocouple before the gas valve will stay open on its own. If you let go too soon, the flame dies. Hold longer than feels natural
- Sunset is the move. Pull chairs in, grab a blanket from the cabinet, settle in
If It's Not Working
- Lights, then immediately goes out: you released the knob too early. Hold it in for a full 30–60 seconds after the flame catches and try again.
- Won't ignite at all: tank valve isn't fully open. Turn it counter-clockwise until it stops. If it's a fresh / recently-swapped tank, reset the regulator: close the tank valve, set knob to High, wait 30 sec, close knob, slowly reopen the tank valve over 5 sec, try again.
- Flame is small or weak: propane tank is probably near-empty. Heft the spare in the cabinet — if heavier, swap. Cold weather also drops flame height naturally.
- Strong gas smell with knob off: close the tank valve immediately and text me. Don't relight.
