EV Charging

Level 2 charger in the garage. Pull in, plug in, done.

Level 2 EV Charger

Quick Start

  • Tesla: pull the connector off the holster, press the button on the handle to open the car's port, plug in. Charging starts automatically
  • Non-Tesla: grab the J1772 adapter from the cubby next to the charger, snap it onto the car's port first, then plug the Tesla connector into the adapter
  • Watch the LED on the unit: solid white = ready, pulsing green = charging
  • To stop: tap "Stop Charging" in the car or app, press the button on the handle to release, return to the holster

Pro Tips

  • Speeds at 48A: roughly 25–30 miles of range per hour. Most cars are full overnight
  • Some non-Tesla EVs need to be unlocked or have charging "authorized" in their app before they'll start
  • If you push it firmly into the port until it clicks, partial seating won't drop the charge mid-session

If It's Not Working

  • Charging starts then stops within minutes: reseat the connector firmly until you hear a click. Also check the car isn't already at its charge limit (e.g. 80%) or running a charging schedule.
  • 3 red blinks (overheat): stop, unplug, and let it cool 30 minutes. If hot to the touch, leave it. Setting a lower charge current in the car can help.
  • 1 red blink (ground fault): don't keep retrying. Text me — this needs an electrician to verify ground integrity.
  • Solid red light: find the breaker labeled "EV / Tesla / Wall Connector" in the panel. Off for 5 seconds, back on. If it stays solid red after that, text me.
